We’re now seeing the other side of covid, with many people returning back to work. While this is an extremely positive thing, it’s important to recognise that many people found balance and experienced a decrease in #stress when working from home.
So, here are a few things you can do to keep that work life balance back in the office!
1 – Ease yourself into your new routine, and do as much morning preparation as you can the night before. Pack your lunch, pick out your outfit, find matching socks and your car keys so there’s no running around like a chicken with its head cut off 3 minutes before you’re meant to leave home.
2 – Speaking of packing lunch, let’s make it a nutritious one WITH a treat to get you through the 3PM slump. This is sort of common sense but a healthier lunch is going to help you feel much better than a quick run to KFC because you didn’t have time to meal prep.
3 – This is important. Make your space, YOUR space. Bring in some flowers from your garden at home and definitely add a photo frame of you and your family. Make it as homely as possible so that you always feel connected to where (let’s face it) you’d rather be.
4 – Now that there’s no more getting up and wandering around the house, folding the washing, quickly unpacking the dishwasher etc… make sure you’re still getting a bit of movement during the day. Stretching is so important.
5 – There’s nothing better than exclaiming “wow, you really do learn something new everyday!” Set yourself a little challenge to learn something new, keep your brain active and don’t let getting back to the office stagnate you.
6 – Last but not least, make your lunch breaks count. Our favourite thing to do is go for a walk around the block with headphones in and listen to a podcast (bam, you’ve completed no. 5 and no. 6 in one go.) That 40, 45, 60 mins can feel like much longer if you don’t spend it scrolling on social media.
So, will you implement any of these tips? Maybe you LOVE being back at work, and if so, we are so happy for you! Just don’t let the stress take over.
