Inflammation – Let’s talk about it! Inflammation may occur when your body is trying to fight against things that may harm it, such as infections, food allergies and toxins. You may suffer from bloating, achy joints, tiredness and feel irritable, constantly chasing your tail to try and figure out what the cause could be. For some, you may hardly even notice you have inflammation and it could last for just a short period of time. For others, it’s a constant draining battle. Inflammation plays a crucial role in immunity, it helps to heal. If our body can no longer respond to inflammation, then that’s when problems may arise. The good news is, we can all deal with inflammation, but, we have to find the root cause of it…Here are a few: Stress, stress, stress Stress can affect us all in many ways, it may be emotional, mental or physical. Our adrenal glands release the necessary hormones to respond to inflammation as well as your stress hormones. When there is inflammation in the body, cortisol is released from the adrenal glands to soak it up. If we are in a constant state of fight or flight, adrenal fatigue may begin. When this happens we start to see an increase in inflammation because our body doesn’t have the resource to respond properly. You could help reduce your stress and adrenal fatigue by simply following these steps: Meditation Talk to your loved ones or a professional Take Adrenal Stress Ease supplement Exercise Digestion and your gut Your digestive system may be suppressed if you are in constant fight or flight mode. If you put together adrenal fatigue and mix it with a suppressed digestive system it could cause something called Leaky Gut Syndrome. Leaky Gut Syndrome is basically where your gut lining becomes porous, allowing toxins and other waste slip through to your bloodstream – which then could cause a reaction in your body so it becomes inflamed. If you identify what foods may be causing the reaction then this could significantly reduce the cycle of inflammation. To discover what foods may be causing a leaky gut, you could get an IgG test (food sensitivity test) referral from your SD Protocol Practitioner or start with eliminating the big 4 that have a common thread: Wheat Dairy Eggs Corn Once you have a hold on what food is triggering your reactions, some supplements or foods that may help repair your gut health is: Bone Broth A good quality probiotic A good quality bovine colostrum To find out more on how to get control of inflammation and your health visit our website here. |
